It had been barely 7 years since he stepped into the industry when Shah Rukh Khan co-founded Dreamz Unlimited, the company that produced three of his films before being dissolved. These films were Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Ashoka and Chalte Chalte. But the failures of his first production house did not demotivate him. He was persistent enough to stick to his dream of starting up his own business venture, a production house, that would unleash the new side of Bollywood movies. He let out the fire within to establish a successful business empire and very soon, he transformed Dreamz Unlimited into Red Chillies Entertainment, one of India’s biggest production houses. He also produces television commercials for various global brands, a strategic move which was much ahead of its time. Soon after this, SRK proved to the world that he was not only fit as the ‘Romantic Raj in DDLJ’, but also the ‘Resilient businessman’ in his real life.
2. Strive for excellence
“I will deliver with passion and quality, else take your money back”, says SRK. For him, excellence is the most important deliverable. He makes people fall in love with his work, that translates into a big “WOW”. He gave the audience what they didn’t know they want, like the world class visual effects. Way back in the early 2000s, SRK realised the pain point that Bollywood lacked in the department of world class visual effects. In 2005, Red Chillies (SRK’s own production house) started their own VFX studio, which is now amongst the leading ones in India. Movies like Krrish, Ra.One came out of the Red Chillies VFX studio, with the latter going on to win all the major film awards, including the National Award for its spectacular visual effects. This quality to identify and solve the persisting problem gave SRK an edge over others, and made him stand apart as an entrepreneur.
3. Passion to grow
After the success of his production house, King Khan did not give a break. Instead, he thrived to try something new, something out of his way. His decision to diversify his business, made him step into the world of cricket. IPL was totally new to him, and there were no assurance that he would succeed. But his belief and passion made him go ahead with it, and today his team KKR is the richest and the most financially successful IPL team. Other than cricket, he also owns a racing team in the i1 Super Series and plans to buy a football team. His never ending passion to climb up the business mountain to see what the top view is like, and continuing to move further makes him the shining star of the red carpet.

SRK’s success stories are not only limited to himself. He also expresses his concern towards nurturing the society. The Bollywood King does it all for the society but does not believe in showing it off or saying it loud. He has made countless donations through his home production ‘Red Chillies Entertainment’. The B-town heartthrob is also closely involved with ‘Make a Wish Foundation NGO’, where he works in fulfilling dreams of underprivileged children. He was the first Indian to be honoured with the UNESCO Pyramide con Marni Awards for his charity engagements and social commitment towards providing education to kids.
